Asking for and posting reviews is often underutilized but simple to do. Once you’ve completed a job and you know the client was thrilled, simply ask them: “Would you be willing to write a review that I can use on my website? Or post a comment on social media? Allow me to share some pics of the project details that we are so proud of?” And ask if they would be willing to refer you to friends, neighbors, or colleagues by sharing your business card as they show off that new spa-like bathroom or custom cabinetry in the luxury kitchen?

Getting a Google review, reviews on your website or posts to social media are excellent ways to generate leads and promote your construction business.  

BE SEEN AND HEARD

Impress potential clients with videos and podcasts. Creating a short video isn’t that difficult or time-consuming. It literally takes a few minutes and you can use your phone—no expensive equipment required. 

For example, you can say something as simple as this to your client: “Hey, I want to do a video testimonial for my website. Do you mind spending just a few minutes talking with me on camera about the project? I have three questions to ask you, and I’ll share them with you in advance. I just want to get your honest comments on your experience with our company, the quality of the work, and if you would recommend us. It would really go a long way in helping us to connect with more homeowners like yourself.” Yup, it’s that easy. 

Then promote the video on all your social channels. A prospective new client is only a few taps away. Continue to build your video testimonial library. Then, when you are meeting with a prospect, direct them to your website and testimonials. Or send them a link—“Hey, check out this video clip of a project we did very similar in scope to what you’re thinking of doing.” Seeing the completed work and hearing the positive comments of the homeowner will add reinforcement to your pitch.
